Serial number in odd place
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a former law enforcement revolver, a S & W Model 10. I noted that the serial number is not only on the butt but also above the cylinder. Is this a post-production addition or what? ![]() |

A lot of Police Dept. marked guns on the sides of the frames to easily read the serial if after market, or over size grips covered the bottom of the frame.
NYPD usually on the side below the cylinder. |

Is the number also on the butt? Possibly covered by grips?
