Two grand would be a pretty good pop on a range gun but if I did I would likely buy another Colt Series 70 1911 frame in .45 ACP or a nice 9mm. Another gun I would like which I don't have is an older clean Browning Hi-Power. Always liked the Hi-Power but never hung on to one of them.

Get 4-6 Milsurp's from Classicfirearms.com, and a bunch of ammo?

Another vote for something in the $500-600 range and a lot of ammo. If a semi-auto include at least 5 magazines.

I would buy a Coonan, CZ tac sport orange, or a Freedom Arms revolver.

2K to spend
ruger blackhawk convertible single action revolver, one each in 45lc/acp and 357/38/9mm. each costs under $700 new and you can shoot the full lineup of centerfire handgun ammo.

Range gun?
Most likely a Lithgow bolt action in .308, with $900 of scope on it. Either that, or two Remington V3 Tac-13's... one for each hand

You aren't getting a Sig P210 for that, unless its a pretty rough military spec model.
If you want an American Sig Sauer P210A, that's a different story and a different gun. No thanks. I'll stick to the real deal. |

Find an older Smith & Wesson Performance Center pistol. Some of them can still be had for $2000. They are high quality and very accurate with the Briley bushing.
I'm talking guns from the real Performance Center before it shut down. These days, S&W just slaps the name on guns with some slight alterations from the standard assembly line... Something from the Sig Sauer Mastershop in Germany would be a great option also. Some can still be had for $2000... Last edited by bac1023; December 10, 2018 at 11:02 PM. |

Too bad the OP is set on a centerfire. A S&W Model 41 would be a nice addition to a collection.

I have the X-Five Competition (same gun, but trigger not adjustable). It makes me look like I'm a really good shot! I'd make it a safe queen but I really need this gun for range work and competitions. I have several Colt Gold Cups, an STI 2011 custom compensated 45, CZ's CZ clones and a Belgian C-Series Hi-Power - all fantastic guns in their own right. But none perform as well as my X-Five. In fact, I should sell my X-Five Competition and buy that Level 1. Last edited by Skans; December 12, 2018 at 02:24 PM. |

For $2000 it has to be center I would buy a performance center 627 competition 8 shot revolver in .357. and with the remainder spend a a couple of hundred dollars on a nice shoulder rig to carry it.

No doubt I'd look for a S&W model 27 no dash with a 4" barrel in really cherry condition, and some more bullets to load up for it.

One other option, would be to wait till the 2019 Shot Show. See what newest firearms are coming to the market, or what older models are getting updates.

Look at the CZ AccuShadow 2. It might not be as high end as some of the suggestions here but it will not limit the performance of anyone. I own a Shadow 2 and it is simply amazing to shoot, better than the sum of its parts. The AccuShadow 2 is even better.
https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-accush...z-custom-shop/ Although, you might wait and see what CZ has planned for 2019. |
