Ordering mold

Cast bullet molds

Gonna order some bullet mold for 9mm, 30-30 and 44 mag.

9mm is a 125 gr .356 round nose
30-30 is a 160 gr .309 flat nose.
44 mag is a 200 gr .430 flat nose

Anyone have experience with these or recommend different bullet weights or dia.?

Just looking for a cheap plinking round. For the pistol and lever actions

Looks like you've pretty much got it covered. Gas check bullet might be good for the 30-30, but not mandatory. What kind of molds are you going for? jd

If you are just getting into casting and want some to learn on, or don't want to drop much money to try them out, I suggest looking at the following Lee molds at Titan Reloading,

.310 - C309-160-R or the C309-170-F

.356 - TL356-124-2R or the 356-125-2R

.430 - 429-214-SWC

If you already are casting and know you want something a bit better than the Lee, then look at either NOE or Accurate molds. Both have great selections and build high quality molds.

IMHO all your choices are good, but I like 240gr or heavier in 44mag.

With cast bullets, most of the time you will obtain good results as they have a central tendency to expand into your rifling. If you obtain less than desired results, I suggest slugging your bore to determine exact diameter as bores do in fact have different diameters.

IE: Take a SW Model 29 has an exact diameter or .429. When using bullets sized .430, accuracy despite varying FPS results in poor accuracy and leading.

Conversely the same bullet, launched at the same FPS only this time the bullets are sized to .429, gives sub MOA performance and leading does not occur.
