Red dot site
Just bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 and am wondering if there is such a thing as a good reasonably priced laser red dot site for it?
Thanks

I got a $35 Tasco 1x 30 red dot with weaver-style mount at Walmart. It is not the one made for air guns and rimfire. It works great on my 15-22. I have it mounted on a .5 inch riser toward the front of the hand guard so it is lined up with the iron sights. It holds its zero pretty well.
I don't know if they are still in stores, but I found them on their website and on MidwayUSA's site for under $40. For a .22 rifle, I wouldn't even consider anything else.

^i would consider other options if I hadn't decided that I really like my Burris Fastfire III.
It is small, lightweight, waterproof, still on its first set of batteries after 6 months of use. I expect batteries to last for at least another 4-6 months, at which point I will change the battery. Dot is small enough to hit chipmunks with it inside of 50 yards. I like its automatic light adjustment and brightness settings. Great in low light or full mid-day sun. At the moment it is mounted to my Henry .22, when deer season comes around it will be coming off the Henry and going onto a Marlin 336. You didn't mention your price range, I managed to get my FFIII 3moa red dot for a little over $220, most places are a little higher than that. For a price I consider very "reasonable", I have been very pleased with its performance and quality. Just a note, this thing will sit so low that it won't clear your front sight sitting on the top rail. I have seen a number of pictures of people using a 45 degree offset picatinny rail to attach and they seemed pretty happy with it set up like that. I have two of the Strikefires and they have worked fine.
One is on an AR15 and the other on a Ruger 10/22. |

I've been disappointed in several cheap units. The Vortex line are the cheapest I'd recommend. They ain't cheap, but not really much more than a decent scope either.

For a 22lr I went with the Bushnell above. It has worked geat, I think you can get them cheaper if you search on line. Been a great red dot sight.

Check out Primary Arms for several Aimpoint-style clones. The M3 Clone on my DR200 has been more than worth the price.

I bought a millet pistol red dot for my 357 Blackhawk from amazon for like 50bucks.did a lot of research and millet had a lot of good reviews. I have a b.s.a on my 870 for like 5 or 6 yrs and have run turkey loads and slugs through it and never have had a problem, but the short fat red dots look stupid on a hand gun..OH CRAP YOU SAID LASER SIGHT
