I need approximate value - Sig carbine.

A customer of mine acquired a Sig rifle from death of family member, and I may have an opportunity to buy it but...i don't know what it's worth. Sigs are usually beyond my price range but this one might be affordable.
I'm not sure what model exactly but is AR style rifle, looks carbine length, basic adjustable stock, nice pistol grip, looks like stock mil-spec trigger group, BCG, and charging handle, basic boring round handguard, magpul qd sling, magpul flip up rear sight, and Sig Romeo4 red dot sight, 100 rounds of ammo and three aluminum mags, looks lightly used and well cared for.
Any idea on value?

Keep in mind where I live (nearly bordering Exeter NH) gun dealers will often tell you "everyone knows someone that works at Sig" - in other words, hard to sell a Sig for retail because their employees use their discounts for friends/family and with NH private sale laws it translates to people coming by them fairly cheap in my immediate local.

But I don't think a Sig M4 is a super high $$ model to begin with - new they are like $1000 list price and are found in stores for $900 or so, maybe less - ie a little more than an S&W or something but they do not seem to be priced as "high end" AR's.. Maybe they are "high end" just they are not unattainably expensive or anything.

So with that said - I'd say given it's in such nice shape, with the optic, accessories, whatever, if you were buying it from a friend - maybe $600 is a fair value. A Romeo 5 red dot is only like $120 now days online, believe the 4 is just an older version of that, mags are cheap, ammo is cheap, sling is cheap. There was a 5 year old one of those on Armslist, new in box never used, guy was asking $800 a few months and I was interested in it as a "spare" - would've maybe offered $650 until he told me he wanted to do an FFL transfer.. That turns me off to a private sale on principle so I discontinued the conversation and ended up finding a better deal on something else with a seller who was less paranoid.

From what I understand

5.56 in a 18 in is M400.
5.56 in a 16 in is SIG516

Both were introduced in 2010. In my experience, SIG holds their value quite well, so all things equal, LNIB, 80-90% retail IMHO

For my local prices, I'd jump at $750. So to me, $600 is a great deal!

$600 for the gun and accessories is a pretty good deal.

This is not entirely correct. The M400 is a DI rifle. The SIG516 is piston-driven and is available in various barrel lengths.

My guess is that his rifle was a 716. I've never seen M400s retail for anything close to $1200, unless he was was unfortunate enough to purchase during the late 2012-early 2013 panic.

I've only ever seen the 516 offered in 16 in. The M400 is the same with one exception if I remember correctly.

When and what other lengths were offered?

The 516 has been offered with 10.5" and 16" barrels - maybe some others as well. Whether it still is - I'm not sure.
