A .32 Hand Ejector or Regulation Police, both built on the small "I" frame with serial numbers running from 536000 in 1946 to 721953 in 1960. Or, far less likely, a K-32 1st Model. They are very rare and built on the "K" frame. Either way, they were all chambered for the .32 S&W Long cartridge and will also fire the standard .32 S&W (short). Jim |

S&W manu info needed... ok, wanted. (smile)
I was going to buy the book, but I'm unemployed and only have one firearm to look up. Library didn't have it either, so I thought I'd bug you all. Thanks, in advance.
I have a S&W .38 Special CTG model 67-1 with the serial number of 22K3xxx. Can anyone look that up and tell me what the manufacture date is? I'm pretty sure it's post 1959 so I'm not worried about +P loads, but I'd like to be certain. Again, thank you! |

Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpiece
By reading the above thread I have, in fact, been made aware of a book I can buy. I, however, do not have time for that as I am trying to buy this from a desperate customer. I would like, if possible, to have this item dated.
Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpiece Serial# K 879XX Thank you very much. Last edited by NewGunDude; September 21, 2011 at 09:20 AM. |

686 L-frame serial numbers not in Standard Catalogue ?
I do not find the serial numbers for L frame 686's in the Standard Catalogue of S&W.
The generally expressed opinion I've found is that they are not on-line either. I'm looking at two 686's. One serial # begins with CPH, the other with CRA. Is there any way I can find out the manufacturing time frames these indicate ? Thank you. |

How about a 4006 Shorty Forty, SN PCS11XX. It's a first generation model Shorty Forty (no checkered front strap). I'm not sure if it was produced in either 1993 or 1995.

I recently put a Model 65-5LS on layaway at work. Serial # is CAL3xxx. Any help on dating it would be wonderful. Its also my first revolver, and I plan on having it paid off and at the range shooting within a month.

.38 spl 10-7
I'm pretty new to revolvers and am trying to do my research on one I'm interested in. As was stated in the title, it's a model 10-7, 2 inch barrel, 6 shot, exposed hammer, square grip. I believe the serial number is 6D64391. There is also a secondary number I've found in a couple places of 47636. Also marked in a couple places is a stamp of L19 (maybe a police marking of some sort?) Thanks so much for any info!

It would be a Chiefs Special. SN 13378 (taken from the underside of the grip butt) would be 1952. SN's ran from 7369 to 21342 that year. Quote:

5906 Serial
Hello and thanks for operating what looks like a very friendly and informative forum. I have recently purchased a 5906 round trigger guard 9mm at a local gun show. I know it was a police issue weapon by an added engraved serial number. What I am hoping for is a birthday for this pistol serial is VYY831* . I know this isn't as old as alot of the guns I've read on this thread but would love to know. Thanks in advance. I looked in the Semi-auto section and could not find a similar thread so sorry if i am posting this in the wrong section.

That said, both the standard 3913 and 5906 were made from 1989 to 1999 with the "V" prefix SN starting in 94. To get the exact year you can call S&W's customer service and they will give you the DOB over the phone for free. 1-800-331-0852 (USA) Mon-Fri 8:00AM-8:00PM Eastern Time Jim |

thanks
Unfortunantly the SCSW does not cover SN's for semiautos beyond 1998 and is very incomplete after 1994. That said, both the standard 3913 and 5906 were made from 1989 to 1999 with the "V" prefix SN starting in 94.
To get the exact year you can call S&W's customer service and they will give you the DOB over the phone for free. 1-800-331-0852 (USA) Mon-Fri 8:00AM-8:00PM Eastern Time Thank you very much. After calling Smith&Wesson I have found it to be manufactured July of 96. Thank you again for your help. By the way the lady that answered the phone was very friendly, great customer service.
