Not sure of all the facts, but a small number were supposedly set up with .22WMR cylinders......I dunno if there was a second cylinder in .22 lr or not.
I had never heard of that, but if the frame window is long enough it could be mechanically done. Would need a second cylinder to shoot both rounds, which is what Ruger did with their Single Six Convertible.

I just held up a .22 mag round to the stock .22 cylinder and it is long enough for it to fit if bored out. I can't see why the frame would not be strong enough for the added pressure.

I don't see the frame as an issue. Lots of times a gun isn't made in a certain caliber, not because it isn't strong enough, but because its less practical, and there isn't a perceived demand.

Turning a stock .22LR with fixed sights into a .22 WMR just isn't a high demand thing. It requires a second cylinder, the LR bore isn't perfect for the WMR bullet, and the fixed sights mean its not easily adjusted if the point of impact differs between the two rounds.

And, personally, I don't much care for the .22WMR, because of the cost for what you get. The cheapest .22WMR is nearly $20 a box, and most is more, some, a lot more.

I don't see that as worth what the WMR delivers, particularly from a pistol, but, that 's just me.
