What powder?

Hi guys!
I'm new to reloading and have 1 question.
I want to reload for my .30-06 - 180gr bullets(hornady sp) and 185gr Lapua Mega, maybe core lokt. I want to achieve at least 2700fps.
The question is- which Vihtavuori powder would you reccomend me for that purpose. (it must be Vihtavuori because it is only powder avalible to me)
Thanks

Take your pick, they are all good. I think I would start with N-550.

I am having a similar issue. I am reloading for my .30-06 shooting a 180gr bullet hoping to achieve 2800fps or better. I am currently loading three different bullets; first is the Nosler E-tip, second is the Nosler B-Tip, and lastly is the Barnes TSX.

I have a guru, I know doesn't everyone. Anyway, my guru swears by H4831 for the .30-06 shooting 180gr. bullets. My quandry is this. I have been searching around several sounding boards such as this one and I am not seeing that may people who use H4831.

I was wandering who can enlighten me on the optimum powder for my purpose?

Thanks

The velocities listed for loads are usually determined in a SAAMI test barrel that has a SAAMI minimum chamber and 24" length. A commercial chamber will usually need a touch more powder, and, of course, a shorter barrel will have less velocity, and a longer barrel will give more.

For barrels in the 24" range, N550 or sometimes even N560 are among the best medicine for 180 grain bullets. There was a lot of surplus IMR4831 at one point many years ago, so lots of loads were developed with it whether it was the best choice or not? IMR4831 is actually a little slow and low on both bulk and energy densities for the '06 with a 180 grain bullet. You can't fit enough in the case to reach SAAMI maximum pressure, not even compressed 5%. H4350 does better.
