Just bought reloading equipment
Just bought a single stage Lee from a friend. I got dies for 9mm, .39 spl, and .45acp. I will be loading 9mm and .38 for the time being. I talked to him a bit about the basics, but wanted to ask if anyone had advice for a new reloader. I hope to buy a manual tomorrow that covers the basics.

Get the Lyman manual one of the best you can get. Also buy The ABC's of reloading. Those two books should have enough information to get you started.

Check your local library. Mine has The ABC's of Reloading, Hornady manuals and Modern Reloading by Lee.
This option might tide you over if you have to order and wait for delivery. |

For around $13.00 I think it would be insane not to get Modern Reloading by Richard Lee when you are using his equipment and then get Lyman's 49th. Midway USA stopped selling the ABCs of Reloading but when they did it had lower owner reviews/ratings than Modern Reloading and Lyman's 49th. Load data can be obtained directly from powder manufacturers web sites.

+1 on Lyman 49th.
I tend to rely more on current published load data from powder manufacturers but will cross reference them with Lyman 49th. Here are some powder manufacturers' load data pdfs (I print them out and keep in a binder next to the reloading bench and also keep them on my computer desktop for ready reference use): Hodgdon Load Data (covers Hodgdon, Winchester and IMR powders) - http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...rB7JgA&cad=rja Alliant 2011 Load Data - http://glarp.atk.com/2011/2011_Catal...derCatalog.pdf Alliant 2004 Load Data (has many load data not in 2011 edition) - http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...Kft_jg&cad=rja Accurate Load Data - http://www.accuratepowder.com/wp-con...d_data_3.5.pdf Vihtavuori 9th edition Load Data - http://www.lapua.com/upload/download...ngguideed9.pdf |

You guys are off to a great start on a fun and rewarding hobby. Those manuals and the stickies and other threads here should cover just about everything. If something's not clear or covered to your satisfaction someone here will be eager to help.
Welcome to the asylum.
