Least Finicky
What is the least finicky cartridge you reload? This is a cartridge that seems to shoot most combination of components well. What is the most finicky cartridge that you reload? This is one that seems to like only certain combinations of components.

22-250 and 7X57 are the least finisky cartridges I have ever loaded, followed closely by 243 and 375 H&H. Most finicky was 8mm RemMag.
Least finicky pistol cartridge is 44 Mag, followed by 357 Mag and 45 ACP. 9mm was the worst.

Least finicky -- Ruger .243 (It'll shoot just about anything well)
Most finicky -- New England .30-06 (It likes Remington factory loads)

45acp least
7mmbr most A few reasons for this, at the top of the list is that I don’t expect my 45 to shoot MOA or better at 200yds. |

The most:
218B- I load for four of them. Very picky about the bullet, powder, and primer. 22 Hornet- I load for four of these too. All want to shoot their best at the top of the data or higher. Brass life is three times....maybe. 45 gr Remingtons only on all four. 38-55- I load for five of these. It's Barnes 255 gr .377 bullets or forget shooting any groups. 6.5x 06- It's Nosler 120 Solid base or nothing. Rem 350 Mag- I load for two of these. Rem 200 Core-loks or there is no accuracy. 30 Carbine in an Automag III- OAL, brass trim length, and pistol primers are extremely critical on this pistol. Easiest: 223- I load for over ten of these and they all shoot the same loads and even the worst shooter is an inch or under. .261x 47 TNT- 23.0 grs IMR 4895 with a 70 gr match bullet and punch five shot one hole groups. Even a kid can do it. 308- I load for eight of these and they are like the 223's. 8x 48R- .318 bullets of any kind with any powder and it goes to a hole. 38 Super- I load for three of these and they all shoot the same load better than most shooters are capable of shooting. Maybe because the pistols are all match quality? 357 Mag- I load for six of these. They all shoot the same load. Maybe because they are all Pythons? 45 ACP- anybody can load 45 ACP and get decent results. |
