S&W Model 36 s.b. original form grips?

Have S&W 5 shot snubby, J frame square butt. After 2+ decades one of the original wood grips cracked. Looking for a replacement set. Rubber or plastic is OK, but want the same shape + size as originals. Only finding longer, fatter, and/or expensive specialty wood or ivory. Not good for carry.

If anyone, within rules of the forum, can suggest an item or product number, would appreciate. Being not near a large city, we get much of our stuff from on line.

Smith and Wesson should sell them. Altamont makes a good variety of grips for snubs as well at a really good price.

Check eBay or GunBroker for a set of replacement stocks. We do not know the vintage of your Model 36 or have a picture of your original stocks. If your revolver was produced prior to 1958 or there about, the inside flat will have the revolver SN stamped on it without a letter prefix (J). After that era they were not stamped with the SN. The earlier stocks will have a diamond around the screw and checkered. The later ones will not have the diamond but are checkered. My Model 36 is of 1969-1970 vintage and has J Frame checkered Magna stocks for a round butt frame. So, try eBay with the wording: "J Frame Magna Grips Round Butt" and see what you come up with.

Good luck in your quest.

$34.60 at Gunparts. Page 4 of their M36-1 page. And that's without giving money to the people who want to take your revolver away from you like E-Bay does.

You must really like the gun if you shoot it enough to wear out a set of grips.
