SPAS-12

Been looking at the possibility of purchasing a SPAS 12 with folding stock lately. Problem is the market seems to be all over the place on value. Some go for $1,900 and other fetch $4,200.

There is a guy nearby asking $3,600 for one he claims is BNIB, looks like it was never fired save for some slight carbon buildup on the bolt face. He has the original box, sling, mag plug, and takedown tool.

I initially turned him down because that's a lot of money but what do you guys think?

Unless you're a collector...not worth it...there are a TON of better shotguns out there.

^^^. I would agree^^^

If the answer is “I want one” GET IT. If it because you think its some kind of great defensive Shotgun, there are a LOT of better guns out there.

"...“I want one” GET IT..." Exactly. Mind you, nothing is more useless than a shotgun with no stock. A folding one isn't any better.
You should look into the local legality of a SPAS 12 too. Lotta places are terrified of 'em. Our idiot government declared 'em 'evil' and confiscated all of 'em.
Oh and there ain't no SPAS 12 that's worth $3600. Never mind $4200.

Yeah, ultimately decided to pass. It would be a cool conversation piece for the collection but nothing more.

I had a Spas-12 back in 80s. I forget the distributor that I bought it from. Was outfit in Florida that had a lot of low end guns. They had Franchi, FIE, ect. I’m thinking it was less than $300. I also had the Hi-Standard M10 police gun with spot light. Neither one was anything great. I would much rather have a 870 or 37 riot if I had to depend on it.
