Sub Munitions for 44 mag
Anyone ever make a sabot to launch a smaller projectile out of a 44 mag?

You thinking of something along the lines of the Accelerators used in '06.

Along that line. Either a 30cal or up projectile. Seems if you use a Contender style of gun then OAL is not important. Or use 180gr bullet It has better BC then a 180gr .430 slug.

Why not just use a 357 Maximum barrel or something similar if you have a Contender?

Somebody wrote a magazine article about running .357 bullets in sabots in .44 Special cases. This was many years ago. Mid-80's. I recall they got .357 velocities at .44 Special pressures. Giant fireballs to go with it, but don't recall the specifics from that far back, nor how accurate it was? You do need to check that the barrel twist in the bigger bore is adequate to stabilize what you will shoot that is smaller. A 22" (TC) .44 Mag rifle twist will not stabilize any 180 grain .30 cal bullet I'm familiar with.
