What should I do?

I have a question, or rather a scenario to propose and I'd like some objective views but please temper them with the following unavoidable truths about where I live and the restrictions:

Firstly, I can only buy a new gun if I sell an existing one as I can't afford a 600EUR safe.
Secondly, I carry a revolver as there is a condition 3 carry rule on semi autos.

So, my idea is to get a second .22 that my daughter could shoot. The local shop has a tiny Savage Scout single shop in .22LR. That would give my daughters something to shoot and would up my legal ammo stock limit, although this recently went up to 4000 per rifle, so not a deal breaker.

To buy that I'd have to sell one gun. Which? Probably my Astra snub EDC.

That would mean no EDC as my only other pistol is Redhawk in .44 or an SP-01.

So I'd then have to sell the SP to make way for a compact like the Rami, or Steyr sub compact in 9mm to be both race gun in IPSC and EDC.

This would have the benefit of getting pretty good with my EDC, but I'd be limited to condition 3 carry....

So, live with just shooting an air rifle with my daughters or forge ahead and accept the restrictions?

Because, I am torn...

Would this work as an intermediate measure?

My experience with getting a rifle for a 10 year old daughter who expressed interest is that a daughter can express interest that may simply reflect a desire to please, or an unrealistic idea that the activity would be easily mastered.

I almost bought a Savage Rascal, a very small single shot rifle, but the stock had a bizarrely low comb, at 10 years old it seemed almost too small for her. Shown below.

I bought a Ruger American Rimfire, a full sized rifle with a replaceable buttstock that allows a shorter length of pull.

My point in reviewing this is that depending on her age, she might be on the cusp of a growth spurt for which you may wish to account in your purchase.

I don't regret outfitting her for an activity in which she isn't as interested as I thought or hoped, but then I am functioning under more liberal limits.

In hindsight, I'd have had her put in a bunch of air rifle time before going on to 22lr at a public range.

Hmmm... useful insight.

My eldest is very young by comparison. Eager, but young. She seems genuinely interested in shooting but there is always the risk, as mentioned, that it’s partly to please me even though I labour the point that it’s entirely up to her.

From my own perspective, handling Steyr, CZ and Walther sub-compacts was a bit distracting (read enticing) but the condition 3 rule hangs heavy on me.... I never expect to need my gun but if I do, the luxury of racking my slide two handed may not be part of the deal...

There are some VERY nice target air rifles out there. The mechanics of shooting an air rifle is the same...

Personally, I'd get her a decent air rifle and revisit the 22 thing in a year.
