Adapt 92 mag for Beretta 8000 - DONE
Had no response to this, so I bought a couple of mags to try and do this. Actually, it wasn't as difficult as might be expected. It required no "special" shop tools, just a vise, angle grinder, and a Dremel tool.
I used the existing 8000 mag as a guide and scratched marks for the slot on the new mag. First, I disassembled the new mag and put it in the vise and, using a metal cutoff disc, carefully ground a starting slot. I then used my Dremel tool with a diamond bit to complete the slot forming. I took this "new" mag out for trial. Great! It shot fine in my 8000, locking up tight and loading properly. As a bonus, it also runs in my 92. And, my original 8000 mag was only 10 rounds (the pistol was a California purchase), so now I have 15 rounds. Here's a pic: Left: original mag; Middle: "new" mag; Right: 92 mag |
