Took Two favorites To The Range Today

Decided to just take these two to the range today. Two super fun .22’s and a brick of ammo make for a fun day in my book.

I took my Springfield TRP yesterday and my Browning Buck Mark.

It was fun shoot my 45 and could take a break and throw some .22lr down range.

Looks like a Model 18 Smith, I'd guess Mk70. I picked one up a few months ago and really like it. Ejection after a cpl cylinders full is tough, but a good brush out with a bronze brush cures it fast enough. How's it shoot? Mine's comparable to my M41 Smith, tho my 73 yr old eyes are probably to blame.

For a fun and demanding test of your slow fire technique, try charcoal briquettes perched on an fence rail from 8-10 yards...and hey, there's no clean up! Spent non-reloadable shotgun shells are another good tgt. Standing upright on a piece of fence rail or rolled along a dusty two-track, they're fun to work over, double action.

Another good exercise is a soup can suspended from a piece of 14 ga hot wire fence wire. They swing nicely and are a breeze to reset when you clip the support wire.

Have not any cases sticking yet in the Model 18. So far I have really only used Aquila and CCI standard velocity LRN in it, just punching paper. It shoots superb so far. That little Beretta Cheetah is an overachiever for sure. Fairly short sight radius and pretty small sights, but will shoot near one hole groups at 50 ft from a rest and right to point of aim.

And that, Sir, makes it a KEEPER for sure!

BTW, try Federal Auto match...the non-plated one. It's as accurate as Wolf Match, and does not leave debris under the extraction star!

Rodfac, is that a .22 Diamondback? If so, that is one of my grail guns. That or a Trooper in .22. Prices are just too crazy though.

Yep...22 bought it about 30 years ago for $300 in virtually new condition, and with the box and papers. I've carried it a lot since and the blueing is worn on all the sharp edges. The Smith is more accurate tho and has a far better DA trigger. The good thing about Colts is that the factory grips are usable. With a Smith, the Magnas are worthless without a grip adapter in my hands. Rod

They definitely are two of my favorite range toys.

My Beretta is also a scary precise shooter,,,
From a cheap plastic wrench it's one nickel sized hole at 25 yards.

Nice choice in range toys my friend.
