updated information from the FL Div of Licensing re; firearms training...
NOTE If you are a Florida resident or need a firearms training certificate to get a valid Florida G/firearms license(armed security/EP) or a W/concealed license, the DOACS/Div of Licensing will not allow copies of the training requirement certificate to be used. Only the white/original form will be processed.
Also note; the state Div of Licensing will now only approve/process firearm licenses with the revised form from 2011. Older forms & copies will not be allowed. For details, see: www.mylicensesite.com . The mandates came down after a increase in fraud/waste/abuse by security training school instructors & security agency managers. A few were arrested & there are a # of G/security officers who worked in the industry with invalid licenses. FWIW, check any Florida K/firearms instructor out before you pay for any formal training or apply for any G/W licenses. Scams & misinformation are major problems in Florida. edit There were a few SOP changes too. The Florida Div of Licensing now says you only need one re-qual for the .38spl, .380acp or 9x19mm(9mm Luger). If you fail to qualify you can shoot 2 more trys. That will save ammunition & $$$. This policy change was due to the increases in prices & problems finding ammuntion. See the July 2013 newsletter for full details. ClydeFrog PS; The Orlando Florida field office of the Div of Licensing moved too. It's no longer in the main office bldg in downtown Orlando. See the website for details.
