Scope Problems

I have a 1994 Browning 7mm-08 A-Bolt with a Leupold VX II 3x9x50 and Leupold rings and bases.

The problem I'm having is my scope when it's mounted on the gun is really hard to turn the variable (3-9) nob. I had a Vari-X II 3x9x50 with Warne rings on it before and it did the same thing. I even had the Vari-x II shipped back to Leuopld to have it checked out and nothing was wrong with it. The Vari-X II is now mounted on another gun with no problems.

What could be the problem and how can I fix it?

Thanks,
Darrell

My guess would be the mount holes on the Browning, or more likely the mount itself are not square. This could cause binding (twisting) on the scope body which would put drag on the internal tube that slides when you adjust power.

If it's not off too far, lapping the rings may square things up enough.

Good Luck...

Thanks for the quick response. I will get the rings lapped.
