Changing Brake on 14.5" AR?

I have a Adams Arms 14.5" adams arms with the extended birdcage that I would like to swap out to a Lantec BMD brake.

If the upper is removed from the lower can I work on it that way legally correct?

If it came from the factory with the break installed it's more than likely pinned and welded to comply with NFA laws.

It will be pinned and welded and it will destroy any threads that are there. Take it to a smith and you will be legal and it will be done right.
