Dating a Winchester Model 12

I was hoping someone could help me date and provide a rough private party value of a Winchester Model 12 - s/n: 1669830. 12 Gauge - 90%.

1958. For a standard model I'd say around 500.

Does anyone know if it is okay to shoot steel shot through it?

I wouldn't use steel shot in it at all but if it's a full choke steel shot would most likely be a disaster. A steel shot column doesn't compress like lead does.
