And most people are assuming deer hunting, even though deer are never mentioned in the OP. Anyway, all of the above for me. |

+1 davelandrum
rem870hunter stick to your bow or shotgun for deer hunting in your home State. While you might get away with doing what you have been thinking about a .358 dia bullet will leave a smaller entrance wound than any shotgun slug. Plus what would happen at your check station if they decided to question you and are able to recover a bullet in your game animal? Do the right thing and hunt legal please. |

Favorite Hunting Rifle
Well I have to say my favorite hunting rifle would be the .270 My wife loves her remington break over .243 lol (Youth Rifle) hehe She has short arms so we had to get her a youth rifle.
Well thats my input.. Shhh dont tell my wife I laughed at her youth breakover .243.. Oh you probably already heard this one before but have to share it... Two hunters went moose hunting every winter without success. Finally, they came up with a foolproof plan. They got a very authentic female moose costume and learned the mating call of a female moose. The plan was to hide in the costume, lure the bull, then come out of the costume and shoot the bull. They set themselves up on the edge of a clearing, donned their costume and began to give the moose love call. Before long, their call was answered as a bull came crashing out of the forest and into the clearing. When the bull was close enough, the guy in front said, "Okay, let's get out and get him." After a moment that seemed like an eternity, the guy in the back shouted, "The zipper is stuck! What are we going to do?" The guy in the front says, "Well, I'm going to start nibbling grass, but you'd better brace yourself." |

Why can you not hunt with rifles in some American states? I really don't understand that. Everywhere around here (Luxembourg, Germany, France, ect.) people hunt with rifles only as far as I know.

Silvanus - each state has different regs here. Unfortunately, the legislators who make the laws may or may not understand hunting, so you get some wierd laws. The common excuse for not allowing centerfire rifles is population density, but that argument is questionable at best.
The flip side of the coin is hunting here is not as highly structured as it is in Europe, so you do get people in the woods during hunting season that probably shouldn't even be allowed to hunt with a slingshot...
