Primers not seated deep enough.

I ran across a few rounds that I loaded a while back that the primer wasn't set deep enough using the Lee hand prime. Since then I upgraded to an rcbs primer press and it works better for me.

But how would you go about seating the primers the rest of the way?

Break everything down to just the brass and primer and press in deeper or some other method?

Depends on how many you loaded. 3-4, toss them in the trash.

Well whatever you do make no attempt to re-seat a primer of loaded ammunition.

It's not likely the primer will detonate; but if it does, the consequences will be severe. Definitely not worth it.

Yes maybe break em back down. If it was me I'd try chambering in my gun. If it chambers it may shoot. If not first go maybe second or third attempt after it is seated. I'd just shoot them for plinkers then redo and make sure they're right next go at it.

I'll probably break them down since I only found 3.

A friend was using my rifle at the range and tried to chamber them in my winchester 94 and they would go in but he wasn't able to squeeze the lever to be able to fire the shells off. I should have tried myself but I didn't.

It actually left a small impact shape on the primer.

I'm not one to waste components so I can't chuck them.

For 3 rounds I would dispose of them and not worry about the components. I have disposed of components and even finished rounds when I thought there might be the SLIGHTEST problem or something did not look right.

Firearms and limbs (parts of the body) are expensive and sometimes can not be replaced, components can be replaced at will.

Vote safety first and be safe.

I had this happen for some 45 ACP rounds. I pulled the bullets, re-seated the primers, then reloaded the cases.

Yep Lever Gun.

If it was a bolt I bet my friend would have just forced it since it was his first time shooting and he was having a lot of fun. Really liked the bolt guns I brought along but as soon as that winchester 94 came out he caught the bug and wanted to shoot it all day long.
