Calling for "Help" from more experienced (really old) members. What type of grips were original to a Colt Trooper MK V? Wood or Rubber? Mine has a Pachmyer Presentation grip that I feel is original to the firearm and fitted for Police Work. Wood was for civilian presentation/sales?

Factory grips were wood. Pachmayr rubber grips were aftermarket and widely favored by police officers, often approved for department purchase.

Actually, both. Coltguard finished ones came with Pachmayrs.

This is the standard walnut Colt grip for the Trooper Mark V.

The same grip was also used for some limited edition models of the original King Cobra and Anaconda.
All thee models used the same grip frame so grips interchanged.

There was a second grip used on special limited edition versions of the Mark V.

The Colt strike model of the Trooper Mark V known as the Peacekeeper, and most King Cobras and Anacondas use Pachmayr "Gripper" rubber grips with Gold Colt medallions.

DFariswheel: Excellent photos. Thanks. Still "acquiring" knowledge. Can you elucidate. What frame designation did COLT use for the Mk V? I find the MK III is a J frame but see the Python is different. I find no information on the limited (?) production of Mk Vs.

Trooper MkV is V frame.
Python is E & I frame.

Some of the limited production models of the Mark V was the strike version with a flat black finish known as the Peacekeeper.

The most hunted for is the Colt Boa, a Trooper Mark V with a Python type barrel and a Royal Blue finish.
This was a limited Edition made for Lew Horton Distributing.

The Colt Whitetailer was a Mark V with a parkerized finish, 8 inch vent rib barrel, a Burris 2X scope, and in a fitted aluminum case.

A standard production Mark V was the Colt Lawman.
This came with 4 inch heavy barrel and fixed sights, and as a 2 inch barrel round butt.

The rarest was the Colt Air Marshal, a special 2 inch barrel Lawman made for the US Marshal Service Air Marshal program using a plastic non-reloadable cylinder firing plastic bullets that would not penetrate an air craft fuselage.

As above the Mark V was the Colt "V" frame.
The same gun was later made as the original Colt King Cobra with the "AA" frame.
The KC was made of stainless steel, later blued, and with a ribbed and shrouded barrel similar to the Python. Otherwise it was simply the Mark V.

The older medium frame Colt's were the "E" frame models that had the firing pin on the hammer.
These were the Army Special/Official/Police, Officer's Models, original Trooper in .22LR and .38 Special, etc.

The "I" frame models were the Colt 357 (both the name and caliber), the later original Trooper 357 Magnum and .38 Special, and the Python.
These had the firing pin in the frame.
