00 Buck reload question
Hello,
I am reloading according to Lymans 5th, pg 353 00 buck Federal hulls, 12S4 wad and 10 X 00 Buck. When finishing crimp I notice a slight bit of dimpling in the hulls from the buckshot. Is this normal? Safe to shoot? I have loaded quite a bit of lead and steel but this is my first buckshot reloads. Any help would be appreciated! Rob |

I have seen it on factory rounds also.As long as it chambers properly I would say you are ok to go.

Thanks for the reply, was just slightly concerned as I had thought perhaps the stack was too high.. If this is *somewhat* normal for buckshot, I'll go test..

If it gives you a problem, you could reduce the pellets by one. Just a thought.

I just did that, concerned a bit about the charge now, 33 gr Blue dot.. removing 1 pellet from the recipe shouldn't have too much effect?, it's a low pressure load anyway (10 pellets 8400PSI).

It shouldn't be a problem. Lighter loads need more powder so you just reduced your pressure a little.
