Walther .45 ACP?

There is a new German made Walther out chambered in .45 ACP, the PPQ.

Seems like a decent gun. I love my P99AS and have a soft spot for the big "fo-five".

Anyone got one or have shot one? Is it a serious defensive weapon, or a half baked range toy only?

I have fired one at the range. It has a kind of high bore axis so the .45 is snappier than the 9mm, but not terrible. Trigger and ergos are just as good as the 9mm variants. I'd say it's a solid choice for someone wanting a polymer .45.

I've got the 40 PPQ and love it. Very accurate and easy to control. I'm sure the 45 is a good choice but I like my 45's in 1911's.

I had one for a while. Fantastic, soft shooting .45 with a great trigger. Short reset. Unintentional double taps weren't uncommon until I got used to it. Very accurate. Good ergonomics. It was a little large for every day, all day carry so I sold it and went back to my Mod 2 .45.

If you haven't already, you may also want to handle the S&W M&P 2.0 in compact or full size. Originally I was looking at and dead set on a Walther. After alot of handling, research and comparing, I went with the M&P.
