Kim Rhode became the first American athlete to win five medals in an individual event in five consecutive Olympic Games. She earned a gold medal in women’s Skeet today.

I watched the replay and she was incredible. I would have watched it live, but 6 in the morning is pretty rough and the streaming video is availale at http://www.nbcolympics.com/online-li...ing/index.html . You have to select your cable of satellite TV provider to sign in. Mens Skeet Finals is the next shooting venue, excluding men's air rifle, and it is set for Tuesday at 5:55 AM our time.

She not only won gold, but set an Olympic record and tied the world's record for women's skeet!

TKM, my friend, being on the west coast, we're at a disadvantage time-zone wise for watching the London Olympics in real time.

Hey, since theses are the XXX Olympics, where are the "adult" events. So far, everything's been G-rated.

One thing about watching them is I don't have large hands and I was looking at the finalists weak hand placement. Some have beavertails but most something like a schable, however all hold the foreard very different then myself. Instead of trying to contort myself to place my index finger in the finger groove, I may try placing my thumb in it. Of course their guns are specially fit to their own specs and they practice so much they can get away with things that I never will.

Now I want to see the Men's shooting events.

After watching I get the idea that the other countries have extremely vigorous training regiments, diets, excises. The USA just sent some farm girl and kicked there ass.
The Russian is a hottie though.

I ended up watching it on replay via internet also, (after waking at 04:00 , and watching things I never knew were in the games, thanks NBC), and I was truly impressed with the way she handled herself , especially after the miss in the 2nd round of qualifying.

Kimberly certainly seems like a great champion, not only as a great shooter, but also as a wonderful representative of the USA.

I wish her luck later this week in the "bunker" trap event.

This is her third gold medal and the first gold awarded to a female American athlete this olympics.

She's a shooter. Read an article today in which her husband was quoted as saying she shoots 500-1000 rounds and spends 6-8 hours practicing every day. That's called EARNING your medal the old fashioned way.

She starts on station 1 and shoots until she hits 25 straight, then she moves on to station 2 and repeats - only until she hits 25 straight from a station will she stay and shoot from that station
Perfection comes from practicing
Practice doesn't make perfect - perfect practice makes perfect - and she is the epitome of that

She has another ten Olympiads before she breaks the record for the oldest person to win an Olympic medal - she is already factoring that into her training

Perazzi is the gun

As much as American sporting clay shooters make a big deal about German Kreighoffs, even the German National Team uses Perazzi

since 1964, no maker has dominated Olympic and international competitions as Perazzi

Her first gun that was stolen and eventually found and returned had over 1 million rounds trough it

i believe she shoots a Perazzi 2000S given to her after her other Perazzi was stolen. It was recovered by police, but she still shoots the 2000S. I am not certain, but believe it has a Shockmaster recoil system with a G Squared sliding adjustable comb.

According to Mike, of Shockmaster, Kim's old (stolen and recovered) Perazzi (MX-8?) had one of his units, but the new ones don't.

Zippy, Me bad. I found a picture of Kim taken after she won the Gold at London. The gun pictured is the one I saw her practicing with a couple weeks back and it does not have a Shockmaster.
