Florida man shoots robber...Video/911 call

Pleasantguywhopacks posted this over on Ohioccwforums.org and I thought you guys would be interested.

Quote:
Several clips on this, footage is pretty bad( why do those cameras suck so bad?)Listen to the 911 tape as well. This isn't what I would want to sound like but at least the media are giving the guy kudos.
Another thing listen to the other 911 caller mis identify the man as a robber. Something to think about.
More here.

Poll on if the man should be charged.
http://www.wftv.com/surveyresults/18431870/index.html
Looks like its running 95% no
As pointed out, interesting how another caller mis-identifies the GG as the BG. Weapon used was a Springfield Armory .40 SW. 2 shots fired DRT, not that that really matters.

Last count 96% DO NOT CHARGE
4% CHARGE

Me: Give him a Medal (and counseling - I'm sure that he, like most of us, will be haunted by the memory of having to take a life - regardless of the circumstances).

Excellent gun handling under pressure! Hope he gets over the shooting okay! One problem for me is I would sound TOO CALM on the phone which may look bad to some who don't realize some folks have a different regard for criminal oxygen thieves than hard working folks trying to live an honest life!

As my dad said to me recently.

"I'm hyper-ventilating when the cops show up if I ever shoot anyone."

"But you've seen combat before dad?"

"Yeah, that's why I'm doing it AFTER I shoot someone and not during."

He did whats right and that should be enough, every one has their own hell and i feel bad for him but not the robber/mugger.I can only hope that there would be more people out in our world that would help out but from all the videos you see on tv,they are more likely to run than anything.I think the majority of americans have gone soft or are afraid that the courts will send them up the river. What a shame to,and my hat is off to this guy.

if you don't stand for something then you will fall for anything.

I do not know what I would have done under the same circumstances, perhaps exactly the same. You cannot know until its happening. What I do know is, I would not being doing TV interviews afterward.

I know that even as an unarmed patron of the store I would have hopped me a counter and commenced to kickin butt! No rules either! Eyes gouged out, ears bit off as well as nose if I get a chance choke hold, boot heels to the side of the head! Gruesom as I may sound it is no different then these thugs are willing to be so I have to go for it all!
I could never look my bulldogs in the eye again if I just walked away!
