Coonan 45

Bought this on 3/3/17

Been after one since they started producing them. Thing was I still lived in California and could not get one except PPT. So I decided to save my pennies and get one when I moved. Found a Coonan dealer in Boise (Cliffs safe and reloading). Went down and found they had 5 in stock. Bought the one that I wanted . Found out Kimber 45 mags work perfectly and bought 2 more. I didn't have to wait the 8 weeks of back log. Filled out the paperwork, got the background check, paid the man and walked out. 1 hour with all the store activity and all. I now feel I am in a free state. Found out with a CCW I would not have had to do the BG check. I am happy. Coonan Classic has a big brother now.

Ok.

I never knew they made 1911s other than the 357 Magnum. That's the only Coonan I have...a 357 Magnum.

They started producing them about a year ago. I have the 357 also and wanted
a 45 so when I moved out of the nanny state I figured it would be a nice retirement gift to me. It is pricey but I got a good deal at the store and it was in stock so I could not pass it up.

Very smooth and as accurate as I can shoot. It is a lot different than the Classic that is for sure. Nice thing is both firearms fit the same hostler. I trade off carrying every couple of days.
