Barrel length and the .38 special
I worked up a load for my model 686 6" 158gr LSWC with 4.0 grns of 231. This is a little close to max, but I like the way it shot. I also have a 2 1/4" SP101. Any thoughts on this load with this gun? I havn't tried in the snubbie yet.

It`ll work !
I used WW231/HP-38 for a long time then my LGSs stopped carrying WW powders anyways I found CLAYS to fill the bill , seems cleaner & a tad less position sensitive than 231 , which by no means is a position sensative powder as BE is !!!

Thanks I wasn't sure what to expect. I was going to take both guns to the range, but the Ruger never made it in the bag. I'm really anxious to see what accuracy is like.

4.0 grains of 231 under a 158 grain SWC is my favorite .38 special load. It should do wonderfully for you.
