41 Mod. 98 Mauser
I reciently purchaced a k98 Mauser at a gun show and in attempting to research it I can not find what the lower-case cursive "k" marked on it stands for. It is stamped on both the reciever and the base of the barrel. If this helps other markings include "duv" "41" "S" and "214"

There are lots of k98 Mauser sites. The lower case k is a series code if I remember correctly. DUV is a manufacturer's code. 41 is the year.
Here's a few quick reference codes site: http://mauser98k.internetdsl.pl/kodyen.html http://www.radix.net/~bbrown/codes_rifle.html A few reference photos and code locations: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/unif...k/k98index.htm Hope that will get you started... TK |

K98 serial numbers only have 4 numeric digits. When they got to 9999 the next rifle they stuck a letter on the end.
0001-9999 0001a-9999a 0001b-9999b Etc. DUV is Berlin-Lübecker Maschinenfabrik. You know you are required to post pictures, right.... |

duv - 41
I got this from a buddies grandma; it was found wrapped in a GI blanket,
4 months after he passed (a WWII vet) and a great American. I gave her a couple hundred for it, as she just wanted out of the house! |
