brass cleaning rods
is it possible to damage barrel of a pistol if you use brass pistol rod?
any damage to revolver when cleaning from muzzle? thanks |

do i need a bore guide if i an cleaning pistols and revolvers from the muzzle? will brass rod collect grit and so damage the bore?

Brass is softer than steel. It's also good to use a bore guide. I've only one one-piece steel rod which is coated and used with a bore guide from the breech end. My other rods are sectional brass (with exception of the blackpowder rods which are one piece brass).

I have seen graphite and steel coated rods that have a slick gloss finish like a fishing rod.. Personally all my rods are cheap aluminium rods and they do the job just fine.. 1 piece rods are nice though for rifles. I wouldn't over think it my self but I don't own any high end target guns all my guns outshoot me already. |

Just keep the rod clean or it will become a lap once it is embedded with grit.
