thanks jim, i had found awhile ago that it went back due to the star designation. will smith and wesson clean it upo again if i asked them? im not really interested in selling the gun but would love for it to look a little better so i can frame it and hang it on the wall. the gun has quite the history so im told by the person who gave it to me

BTW, S&W stopped using the star designation for factory refinish/rework back in the 50's/early 60's. Jim |

I have a S&W Regulation Police chambered in 38S&W but it only has a 3 digit S/N, 7XX. Doesnt have the wood grips, but stag grips in their place. Mostly just wondering its age. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance...

Hi all,
I have recently inherited a couple of my fathers guns and would really appreciate knowing the date of manufacture. The first one is a model 25-2 (.45 acp) serial N758xxx and the second is a 19-3 serial K893xxx. Thanks in advance for any help. |

according to the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, your AJTxxxx was made between Jul. & Nov. 1985 Last edited by 540mope; January 14, 2009 at 08:21 AM. |
