Hogue grips for 1911s

I have seen some photos out here with the Hogue grips on 1911s and just wanted to gather some opinions from those who have tried them.

Do you like them?

How is the comfort?

Shoot better/worse/same when using them?

I saw this one on Ebay. Are there different ones also? Is $20 a good price?

Thanks for any comments.

I have the same grips on my Springfield 1911. They are very comfortable! I shoot just as accurately with them, but they are not for someone with small hands...

Hogue offers a LOT of different grips for the 1911. The ones you linked to are the very grips that Colt puts on the Defender from the factory. I find them aesthetically unattractive, but they are very ergonomic and they provide a very stable grip when shooting.

I hate the look of Hogues, and I think the cobblestone finish is pretty worthless in terms of grippiness. But no matter what I try, I come back to the rubber finger groove grips on my 1911.

I've found the best prices on Hogues of all shape and sizes, on Amazon.

With about half an hour of stippling, they look and feel a whole lot better IMHO. Since I stippled those grips, I have come to find out that finer-grain stippling is much more "grippy". I now do that on all of my Hogue grips.

I have them, in some configuration, on almost all of my 1911's. They are not much to look at...but they work for me.

I went with the Packmayer GM45C. Fits my hand like a glove and doesnt limit you with finger grooves in the front. Also has the cutout for mag release.
I have the Hogue grips oin my Beretta 96. IMO they are to soft when its hot out. They slip around when your hand sweats.

Had them on my springer too.

I also have big hands. They weren't bad at all. Great for range use.

similar ones came on both my colts. i replaced both immediately, but it was definitely a personal opinion on looks.

Yes, what Blanca said, above. Not as good looking as some (most) wood grips, but they are what I have on my RIA. And they are keepers.

Finger groove Hogues are thick and ugly as hell. They come in 3 colors (FDE, OD green, and black).

They don't always fit around thumb safeties and may have to be trimmed with an Xacto.

They are cheap, and VERY comfortable. I put them on my range 1911s, but don't have the heart to put one on my Baer or WC (G10s for those).

I don't like the look ... both my 1911s have VZ grips; they're very, well, grippy, without being irritating to my hands, and look fantastic ... they cost more than those Hogue rubber jobbies, but I like them a lot better ...

Came on my Defender . Ist thing I tossed in trash even before the trigger lock

I don't like rubber grips on any carry gun.

I stumbled across a set of original Colt M1911 Double Diamond WWI era walnut grips I put on my Remington R1. Gives it the same look without the sharp edges of the new Remington factory grips. They will also appreciate in value with the years. Maybe from a hundred years of hand wear, they simply feel slightly slimmer to my hands.
