243 loads
Does anyone load 55 or 60 gn bullets in 243 and have load data? Looking for powder to load with. Unable to find any sources. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently tried some 55gr Nosler purple tipped over IMR 4350. The groupings in my rifle were not impressive. I will post the data, from Lyman #49 if I remember correctly, later tonight. I did obtain some Varget and H4895 and will test them at a later date.

ive tried lighter rounds in my rifle, but i have found that the twist rate stabilizes heavier bullets much better. i was gettin rounds hitting the paper straight sideways at 300 yards.

Thanks everyone. I did find some info when i went to cabelas today. My friend wanted to go with the hornadys but I think he will go with the noslers due to 1 dollar difference and 100 per box not 50. I also thought of trying reloader 15 for that load.

Sometimes you come across a reason to confirm that the diligence taken in reloading is worthwhile....
Those 243 loads with 55gr Nosler BT's were with BL-C2 powder, not IMR-4350. The loads tested were 43.0 - 46.5 gr, in .5 gr increments. The groupings were not as tight as I would have liked. The best chronograph consistency came from the 46.5gr loads, with an average velocity of 3698fps and a SD of less than 10. Varget and H4895 will be tested in the future. |

I've used 60 gr. Sierra HP and a max load of WW 760 since I bought my first pound around 1977 for $3.97. I bought 12 pounds at that time and have bought 8 pounds since. I use it in the 22-250 too. Mine aren’t as fast as some reported here but they are pushing 3900 fps. Accuracy is excellent in a Rem 700 varminter.
