hawes business

well my dad has bought an old chief marshall .357 made by hawes for $20 at a garage sale and it has been harder than we have thought to find a cylinder for it.

it says the companies in LA california and under it, it says made in germany.
from what i have heard it is a fairly old gun and the company may be out of business.

my email is [email protected]

"...out of business..." Yep. 20 years ago. Made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in Eckemforde Germany, but long gone. Not that old, but likely not worth hunting for a cylinder. It's a $20 paper weight.

Hawes is LONG since out of business.
The were located in Van Nuyes California.

The gun was actually made by JP Sauer & Sohn, in Eckernforde, Germany.

Frankly, finding a Hawes/Sauer cylinder is going to be VERY difficult. None of the big parts houses have any cylinders in stock.

About the only advice I can offer is to see if you can get a good pistolsmith to try to fit a cylinder from one of the modern Italian made single actions.

Honestly, this will likely be more expensive than the gun is worth.
