Winchester M70 Featherwwight

Where the heck are these new guns. Can only find the Super Grades. They already go out of business or what.

They are readily available. I've been seeing 'em on my distributor's inventory for several months.

Several years.

The FN made Featherweight was the first introduced in 2008 and have been selling like hotcakes for the last 5-6 years. The reason you are probably seeing more Supergrades is because they are selling out of FWT's as soon as they arrive and leaving the more expensive guns on the shelves.

Neither sits on the rack anywhere I have been. I have been watching them for a year now and they are rare, even in unpopular calibers. There is a waiting list for them at my LGS. Both FW and SG are selling much faster than production. Winchester is back and building rifle's better than ever before and the secret is out.

Production should speed up soon...they have moved assembly of the M70 to their facility in Portugal, the parts are still made here...just assembled in Portugal.

That info is straight from their Facebook page.

Why did they decide to move. Thought they were made in South Carolina.

Mixed feelings on that. I would beg, borrow ,or steal to get your hands on a SC made one now. You can see the potential value of the current ones being made if quality doesnt equal up to the SC made and assembled ones. I would bet the Super Grades will be totally made in the USA.

I wouldn't expect them to say, "We're outsourcing to minimize labor cost."

At least they didn't go to China.

Yet.

Does it make any sense at all to think that fabricated parts shipped across the Atlantic for assembly and then shipped back across the ocean for sale will, "speed up production?"

Glad my two M70s were made in SC.
