Glock - P80 Pistol
Glock and Lipsey's have partnered to make a retro model, the Glock P80.
It is modeled after the original Glock, the first 2,000 pistols Glock sold to the Austrian Army in 1982. After that small run, the pistol was renamed, G17. https://lipseysguns.com/lipseys-excl...tro-glock-p80/ The P80 is a genuine attempt to recreate the original Glock. One change required by USA law is that the serial number must appear on the lower chassis of the pistol. The original had its serial number on its slide. There are other aberrations, but most are minor (magazine construction, etc.). https://youtu.be/JxY-GRLYvmM Lissey's ordered 10,000 of the P80 pistols. They started shipping 5,000 of them to dealers on September 1. Suggested retail price: $669. What are your thought? Will you order one? Or, no interest at all? |

I’ve owned older Glocks, but those were transitional Gen 3s that still were two pin. I did get to have one of the “Tupperware” boxes.
I’m a pretty big Glock “fan” I suppose, and I’m not super interested in this. I get the retro ARs for guys that want something similar to what they had in the service or because they want to try the original configuration. This doesn’t have the same appeal to me. That said my guess is they’ll sell all of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Guess they're for the same folks buying "retro" ARs.
I owned enough of those to really appreciate the current versions, so I'll pass

Meh, call me when Lipsey's teams up with H&K with a reproduction run of the VP70, then I'll be interested.

I might pay the $250 it cost to make.

I had two of the original 1st gen glock 17's.
I sold the last one for 800.00 as a collectible. Buyer was super happy (in CA) Still have my original 2nd gen Glock 19 from 1989. Never will sell that but maybe it will become collectible as well! Note, the 1st had the serial on the slide, but on the frame as well.

I suppose a Glock enthusiast, into Glock history, who didn't have an early 17, might be interested, but the price seems high. It certainly doesn't tempt me at all.

MSRP of $669 means it will likely retail for $529-$569

I'm leaning towards "hard yawn".
Glock ergonomics are decades behind. Whoah, first gen single pin stuff!?!?!?!? Yeah, no. No. That "no" part. Remember that part where I said "no"? That. My job sucks, and I just don't have dollars for "collectibles". And it's looking it's like that's what that is. Didn't Lipsey's even engrave these things? Uh, so lazy, I swear. I mean, uh, limited edition click here please |

Saw one at the local gun shop. He had ordered three and two of them were consecutive serial number. In my case it was not something I wanted to spend money on. If I wanted to pair it with an original AUG and had lots of disposable income ... maybe.

The stippled smooth grip on those 1st gens were my favorite of all the glocks. Unless you've actually held and shot one, you don't know what you are missing. When glock started to add the finger grooves and the thumb depression, they went the wrong way.
For one, I am glad they are making it available again. Maybe the reason I ground off the finger grooves on my 3rd gen 21C.
