jaguarxk120 where on the barrels do you see those markings. Breech end facing the stock, like all the other marks?

Breach end, bottom of barrels facing the stock.
Stars were right next to the bottom rib. They are stars not "*" . |

jaguarxk120 ... Well there's no such stars on my barrels. There are the normal Gardone proofs (PN with a star over it, and the provisional proof that has a star) but no stars as you described. So, what does that mean? ... I sent an email off to Pedersoli. Perhaps they'll have more info on these barrels.

I had a Kodiak SxS rifle. It shot well but I never hunted it. Decided it was to heavy to tote around deer woods. Would make good gun for stand hunting.

Still waiting for Pedersoli. Something I did find out is that my barrels are marked 18,3 (not 18,2 as I said previously). So the nominal barrel diameters are .720. That was common with older Italian 12 gauge shotguns (that are actually 13 gauge). .729 is the "American" standard. Since I measured the muzzles each as .715, then the constriction should be .005 on each side (if the nominal diameters are actually .720). However, there are no stars under the breech ends of the barrels indicating choke. Hopefully Pedersoli will have records.
Not trying to bore anyone with this stuff. Just trying to make the info available for posterity. I find a lot of info in forums like this with a simple google search.

I checked my barrels again and they are marked 18.2.
Our biggest problem is the overseas gun makers are more than willing to build a gun to what ever the importer wants. Just as long as the importer is willing to buy the entire production run. It is a good thing that many Italian makers have come into their own and producing guns for the shooters, not the importer. I have a very nice Zoli O/U upland game gun that should be worth $1500, guess what it's worth with sears roebuck stamped on the barrels!!!! |

Ok here's the scoop from Pedersoli:
Dear Mr. Foster, From the serial number the shotgun was effectively produced and shipped to DGW in the 1978. If there is 18.3mm on both barrels, they are .720" cylindric. L.241 Our manual reports the load that gave us the best results: 85 grs. of Swiss #2 black powder, 1 ¼ oz shot. Best regards, Customer service DAVIDE PEDERSOLI & C. And I thought that I did good for my Navy Arms (Pedersoli) at $300. Wish mine was cylinder bore though. It's actually full and modified.

I went by that antique store again the weekend before last, as I was going by it again. Wondered if the same seller brought out any more pieces. He did. The same pistols were there, but there was a Zouave rifle (at least that's what I think it was, as it didn't look like an Enfield or Springfield to me). It was marked $275, and looked to be in VG condition. In a glass case so I couldn't see who made it, but everything he has put out so far was made in the 70's. With the same 10% discount, it would be about $260 after tax. I wanted it, but couldn't justify buying it. Am I dumb for not jumping on it?

If it was a Zouave in VG condition and depending on who made it that was either a very good price or a ridiculous steal.
