Gibbs Summit Rifle, .45-70, an Enfield bolt-action

I have read some things from time to time on this rifle. I am considering purchasing one. Is there anyone on the forum who has had any experience with this rifle?

I have heard that some get the chamber reamed to .45-90, and that there is plenty of room in the magazine already for the 45-90 cartridge.

Didn't really think the Enfield action was really strong enough for much of anything.

Excellent bush gun, can be loaded to Ruger #1 loads.

Get a recoil pad though, she walks to the rear pretty good.
