Lube Question

I make up my own lube pills for my bp revolvers out of paraffin, bee's wax and lanolin and can adjust it's consistancy from soft to hard. I also use this formula in the lube rings of my antique 1873 Winchester for shooting bp loads. The question is this, is there any reason I can't use this lube formula for my smokeless loads?

No reason not to. Commercial SPG works just fine with nitro.

Me too, 50/50 beeswax/deer tallow. Used to use BW/lard or BW/olive oil. Shot a fat doe and formula changed. The only problem might be if you get the ammo hot in the sun. The oil could leach out of the lube and taint the tiny smokeless powder charges. If you can, it would be best to use a fairly stiff BP lube formula if you anticipate hot temps. If it feels oily or sweats oil, maybe a little more beeswax or pariffin is needed.
