Picked up a Hi-Power on the cheap!
Got super lucky at an estate sale last week. Buddy sent me a few rough pictures of a Hi Power that they had listed for $500. I thought the deal was too good to be true - but I guess every so often they are real.
Ended up walking away with it for a shade over $570, here she is |

Great looking Hi Power and excellent pics. Congratulations!
A Hi Power was my first handgun purchase in the mid 70's ( 225.00 NIB ) I love them.

Very nice. You'll enjoy this pistol. Hi-Powers are an awful lot of fun to shoot.
So, what's in the bag? Looks like it might be the pieces of the magazine disconnect safety. Congratulations. |

Outstanding find congrats. Estate sales and tag sale do sometimes turn up cheap treasure, if the people running them don't know anything about what they have and are to lazy to find out. Has worked for me 3 time over the last 8 or 9 years.

Wow. Lucky you. I need buddies like yours. Well maybe not.... My budget could probably not support those kinds of good deals.

Check out the Crai Spegle thin grips.
I put them on both my Hi Powers. My Practical (same two tone but - mine has fixed sights) wears a set of checkered Ebony ones. Nice score. |

Great Buy! Last time I looked a High Power like that would bring $800 to $1000 or more on GunBroker...I have one just like it in 40 cal in the safe.

I had to pass one up the other day that was priced at $599. It had the target sights and came with three mags but was all blued. Sucks being poor.

It will exceed your expectations !!
As Hal mentioned, that is the "Practical" model and that is how it came from the factory. You will be doubly pleased when you find out how well it shoots. You did very well and please come back and let us know how it shoots. .....
Be Safe !!!

nice,
I wish to find guns at estate sale. this one last summer i just missed. the house was open and when i went up there were about 7-8 full sized gun safes but they were all empy. they probably took to a gun store to get appraised etc. and not leave to the auctioneers. darn. you found a very nice pistol. |

Holy new favorite thing batman!
Got a chance to go shoot it last night. It might just be my new favorite thing. Normally it takes me quite a few rounds to really know if I like shooting a gun, in addition to getting comfortable with it. Not so much with this little gem. By the second mag I was putting almost everything in the black at 50'. Actually put enough close together to tear a large hole in one target last night (there were a few fliers though...) but I've never done that with my 1911.
I MAY (maybe) have to give the SR1911 a rest for awhile and play with the Browning this winter. Only two downsides so far, 1 - there is a wear mark on the front left edge of the slide now. Looks like it's contacting the frame and there's a bright shiny mark worn through the paint. It's small, but really annoying now that I know it's there Might have it looked at to make sure it's not just normal wear. This is the area that's wearing, but it's really bright silver now. really stands out against the black 2. 13 rounds magazines burn through ammo faster than I'm used to. blasted 100 rounds away last night and I had a big frown on my face when I reached into an empy box. |

^ Agree completely. I already have the SDB (in .45) and a single stage. Guess I'll be looking into a caliber conversion
