44 mag load
Just getting into loading cast bullets. How does 23 gr. of H-110 under 255 gr. Cast Performance WFN BG sound?? I have loaded many 240 and 300 gr XTP's in the past. 7.5 in SRH. Looking for a deer load.

Should be a very good load. Magnum primers, right? Good firm crimp.

If it has a gas check, you should be fine. I'd load lighter if there is exposed lead at the back of the bullet. -tINY |

Strangely, I've had far better rsults in all of my magnum pistol loads with standard Remington pistol primers than with any brand of magnum primer. I guess a guy ought to try both.

When using H-110, I always use magnum primers. If my loading books list a magnum primer, I use one. Period.
I shoot 240 grain XTP with 23.5 H-110, outta S&W 629 44 magnum 8 3/8 for deer hunting. Mr. Tettnanger |

H110 or 296 can squib in cold weather with a standard primer. Or if you run a really light crimp.
If you start over with your loads using magnum primers with H110 or 296, I think you'll see better accuracy, cleaner burning, and more consistent velocities.
