Remington 11-48

My friend has a Remington 11-48 sportsman that reliably functions with 1oz and 1 1/8 oz field loads but chokes on high base. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this series of shotguns. The high base 1 1/4 oz loads often get caught in the action jamming the gun. rc

Beyond being gummed up by years of dust and fouling, the #1 gripe for this gun not Loading Up from the mag tube is a worn or soft carrier latch spring P/N 17402. Easy to replace and available for any used part house.

Good Luck & Be Safe

The 11-48 has a ring on top of the recoil spring, similar to the old Brownings, that must be flipped when switching from light to heavy loads. Check that.

As Bob pointed, a good cleaning wouldn't hurt either.

not this one

My friends gun say's up for all loads. It's not exactly like a browning auto 5 configuration. Also, it loads fine from the magazine, it's the high brass that's jamming the gun, not the low brass.
