That is a great deal. Those are the finest percussion revolvers Pietta ever made. I have four of them and the fit function and finish is exceptional. All four of mine shoot to the point of aim right out of the box.

I only have 1 (sadly) but it is one of my favorites. I keep it out on display, it's a really well made, beautiful '51.

First Impressions
Got mine! Exterior is beautiful both fit and finish. The grip has a lot of "tail" that flares right near the base. More noticeable than my other standard Pietta that I modified. I've already started modifying this one. The grips are solid so they can be trimmed. The problem is you are restricted by the staked in grip heel pin in the back strap and the engraving on the back strap.
Timing is a tad off and the bolt needs thinning. Easily fixed. My dilemma is while the dark black/blue is well done, I'm tempted to antique the finish. That should make the engraving standout better. Any thoughts? |

Although I prefer the 44's, that is about the most attractive BP handgun I've seen! It's eye appealing but not gaudy. Nice buy!

Thats a very handsome gun. I would prefer a shorter barrel but it's still nice.

Wild Bill Aged and first range trip
I couldn't stand the pristine blued look so after trimming the Pietta flared grip tail I removed most of the finish and lightly sanded the brass and the white grips. Picture compares it my my aged standard 51.
Took it to the range today and couldn't be more pleased. As others have noted, it shoots to the point of aim. This was my first six shots at 10 yards shot duelist style. |

I love the look of your antique finish.
I have thought about getting one of these from Cabelas, but the one thing that I don't like is the stark white color of the grips. It doesn't look right to me. Pietta could just as easily use an off white/cream color, and I'm sure I would get one if they did. Chaz |

Dye the grips
I'm thinking you could dye the white grips a bone or tan color using something like Rit Dye.
I may try it myself
