Remington 1187 loading problems

I got this 1187 USED for my wife and she only used it loading single into the chamber for a few rounds of trap. It looks barely used at all. I was gettign it ready for deer gun season and I ws checking to make sure it was plugged for only two in the tube. I couldn't get a shell in the tube. That flat spring on the side that comes out to stop a shell from coming out wouldn't compress in and let me load into the tube. I could press it in by hand and then load, but if I do that, it sticks and lets the shell come back out. It's clean, so dirt and crud not an issue. I puts some light oil on it thinkingmaybe it needs a little lube, That seemed to help a little, but still not 100% I cant get it to cycle manually, but then it still wants to hang up and not let me load the tube very easily or I have to push that srping in to let it load and pull slightly on the bolt handle to make the spring click back out to stop the shell from coming back out. Is this an easy fix or gunsmith job?
