Insights Training in Atlanta (Defensive Handgun & Unarmed Against Weapons)

On June 25, we will hold a Defense Against Weapons course at the Holiday Inn Select in the Peachtree Corners area of Norcross. This is the course that will take your unarmed self defense skills to the next level: Defending against the armed attacker. Since we must expect that most victimizers will be armed, this set of skills is the logical follow up to Unarmed Self Defense Level I. This one day course will build on previously taught material and give the student the ability to stun or disable a weapon armed attacker and escape to safety.

Defense against knife: Thrusts & stabs, slashes, stationary threat

Defense against impact weapons: Stick or club (rigid weapons), chain or other flexible weapon

Handgun disarming: front, side, rear, and in the vehicle (side and rear)

Long gun disarming: Front, Side, Rear.

This course will include full force simulations using padded attackers.

This simple system will give you fight stopping techniques that will work regardless of your size, strength or physical condition.

Prerequisites: Concealed Weapons Permit or documentation of good character.

Tuition is $150 and course hours ar 8:00-6:00.

On June 26-27, we will conduct the Defensive Handgun course at Southriver Gun Club in Conyers. The intent of the course is to teach the student to use their handgun safely, quickly and reflexively as is required in close-range high-speed defensive situations and to understand the legal responsibilities of its use.

This course should be considered a minimum for anyone who owns or is considering carrying a handgun for self-defense.

Subjects covered: Firearms safety as it pertains to self-defense. The basics of firing, stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger press, speed reloading, tactical reloading, stoppage drills, rapid multiple shots on single targets, rapid engagement of multiple targets, engagement of targets from the ready position, the draw and the concealed draw, and the proper tactical response to single or multiple opponent situations.

Lectures include: legalities concerning the use of deadly force (both criminal and civil) interactions with law-enforcement, handgun types and modifications, ballistics and ammunition selection as it pertains to the handgun, holster selection and accessories.

Required Equipment: Reliable, functional handgun Belt holster (rigid) with sturdy belt 600 rounds of jacketed ammunition (minimum) 2 magazines or speed loaders Hearing and eye protection
Prerequisites: Concealed weapon permit or documentation of good character and totally familiar and comfortable with your handgun. If you have never shot or wonder how your gun works this class is not for you.

Tuition is $300 and course hours are 8:00-6:00.

I hope you will seriously consider one or both of these courses as they are very worthwhile, regardless of your experience level.
