handloading update

so my first group of handloads shot about .5 inch group at 100. i was using h414 43gr and a 80 gr barnes bullet (243). my next load was the same except 44gr powder and it shot about a 1 inch group. oh well i think ill go back to 43 gr powder and play with my seating depth and see what happens. i may try to work up another load with some berger bullets i think they are called vdl.

Go back to 43 and adjust the seating depth up and down in 0.01 increments and see if you get further improvement? Once you get the seating depth settled, go back to adjusting that 43 grain load in 0.3 grain increments, both up and down, to see if you are really in the middle of a sweet spot or on its edge?

I talked to a guy at Berger and he said that jammin' 'em in the lands produces high accuracy in many rifles. You may wanna give it a try, but beware because this will raise pressure. I also shoot the VLDs and I found my sweetspot to be .020" off the lands. Nice groups and good luck!!
