Baby Eagle/Jericho FTE
I had several FTE the other day at the range w my Baby Eagle. I was using Sellier and Bellot 115gr FMJ and had maybe two or three FTE. Went again today, used Federal 115gr FMJ and had two separate instances in two separate magazines and had to actually drop the magazine one time because it didn't extract and the next round got jammed in behind it.
I was currently using this on night stand duty but it has been demoted until I can figure this out. Any ideas? |

Is it stove piping or just straight up not throwing them out? Also is this a new gun?

No stove piping. Just not ejecting them.

So help me envision this. You pull the trigger it goes bang and does it cock the hammer back? As in does the slide travel all the way back?

Yes. Goes bang, slide goes back, hammer is cocked and the slide typically would not return to battery as it would jam. It's not a stove pipe in the traditional sense where the spent casing gets jammed vertically in the slide.

Is it extracting the casing from the chamber?

Well the two times it did it today, the slide didn't return to battery once and when I pulled the slide back to check the casing was still in the barrel. Second time, same thing happened but the next round got jammed in behind it, couldn't rack the slide at all, had to force the magazine out to fix it. Sorry, wish I had more technical terms but I don't.

Yep I had the same problem when I first got mine. Just get a slightly stronger recoil spring. I THINK not sure I'm running about a 17 pound spring. Get em from midwayusa.com. The tangfolio and the CZ 75B springs will both work. Until you get one the easiest thing to do (for like when ur at the range) is just smack the bottom of ur mag or back of the slide and it will go into battery. If you got any more questions or problems or if that doesnt work just let me know. Us Baby Eagle fellas got help each other out on account of our rarity.

Yea, this a late 90's all steel model which I bought 3rd hand. First two guys didn't shoot it terribly much but I guess it wouldn't hurt to switch them out. Just put the Meprolights on it Friday. I absolutely love the gun, my fave to shoot by far, I just need it to be reliable. Until I get the springs etc, the XD will take its job no problem.
Thanks for the help. |

No problem any time. Quick question though how do those mepro lights look? I know my model and urs take slightly different versions but I seriously want some new sights so its either metros or get my slide milled.

I don't see how a stronger recoil spring is going to fix this, sounds to me more like an extractor issue.

Tunnel what it is is that a new round isn't being fully pushed into battery. Part of the problem is that the beagle has an usually steep feed ramp. This is actually a bit of a common problem for baby deagles.

He's describing fired cases not being pulled out of the chamber, that's not a recoil spring.

Guess I will try to snap a picture next time it happens.
I like the Meprolights. Got all green for this and for my sig I got green front, orange rear. Hindsight I would have done the same for the Eagle too but whatever. |

Happened again today. First it was fine, then happened like every third round and finally happened every single trigger pull. Here are pics.

That seems to me to be more of an extractor issue! It's apparently not grabbing the spent casing enough to extract it.
Make sure that the bullet doesn't sink into the chamber too far to keep the extractor from grabbing the rim of the shell casing.

Extractor is broke off. Sweet. Now I'm searching for one but Magnum Research doesn't have any shown.
Any ideas? Would an EAA extractor work? |

I noticed that too but it says 44/50 which I took as for their 44 and 50 caliber Desert Eagle pistols.
I will try calling Monday though. If not, maybe the EAA line will work. Thanks for looking for that! |

yeah showed up through a Baby eagle Jericho search, there's the good possibility the search wasn't wrong and the part is universal. Seen it before. Good luck man

It's by far my favorite pistol so I will be feverishly looking for this part in the next few days!
Or maybe add a CZ for "reliability purposes" |
