Oregon Measure 114 Update

Some background: Oregon narrowly passed Measure 114, which bans "high capacity" magazines and requires a permit (accompanied by proof of training) to purchase firearms.

Problem is, nobody is currently offering the exact training curriculum required by the law, and no sheriff's departments are set up to perform the permit reviewing process. Had the law gone into effect, Oregon residents would have been unable (at least temporarily) to buy firearms.

Convenient, isn't it?

The Oregon Firearms Federation and GOA brought lawsuits on the county level. A preliminary injunction was issued forbidding the state from enforcing the law until a system is set up to allow compliance.

The state challenged the injunction in the state Supreme Court, who has allowed it to stand. However, the Supreme Court did NOT evaluate the merits or legality of Measure 114. It has not been overturned. This was just a refusal on the part of the Supreme Court to weigh in while the process hashes out in the lower courts.
