I have an original 45 XD--countless rounds through it and it has never coughed--I don't know this newer one but if it's anything like the original I would have complete confidence in it. I also have several Glocks, but my XD is still my nightstand gun of choice.

I have an earlier 10mm 5.25" XDM, and a newer 4.5" 10mm XDM Elite. Both are great and have been 100% reliable for me so far, but I only have about 1000 rounds through each so far.

I've actually been planning on selling my 5.25" and getting the smaller 3.8" one for concealed carry.

I have a XDM 3.8 in .45 (not Elite). It's my carry gun. Zero issues. Zero jams. 1000s of rounds. The rear Meprolight sight started to drift so I peened the dovetail and it's GTG. My only gripe is that if you push the slide ever so slightly back it will remain there.

I have one with the "match" barrel. It is among the most accurate striker fired pistol I have ever shot. I have about 1000 rounds through it 100% reliable. Recoil is reasonable. I highly recommend.

Not sure why people crap on Springfield so much. I have I think 8 or 9 XD/XDM and have never had any jams or issues.

I have a Glock 22 that regularly jams on the first round with one in the pipe and full 15rd mag.

I have a XDm 5.25 Elite in .45acp and it is one of my favorites. Reliable, accurate soft in recoil. It is in fact in one of my small handgun safes ready for "bump in the night" events. I'd recommend one to any friend.

XDm 5.25 Elite in .45acp
is extinct at SA. Too bad.

A friend shoots the 9mm version and I think it good.

I've had no issues with my .45 XD. Not the same gun of course, but zero hiccups.

Springfield makes, sells, great guns and stands behind them from my experience.

I don't think the XD and XDM are much different. "Match" barrel on the M model, but both use the same mags. I bought the XDM in .45 with the 3.8" barrel and short grip for CCW. Match and 3.8" barrel is a bit laughable, but it was more about size. They later had the XD mod 2 in slightly smaller format that I would have gone to had I not already vetted the 3.8 for a carry gun.

Largely because of their politics. Something a lot of people don’t soon forget:

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/sp...carve-out/amp/

Also some don’t care for their re-appropriation of the name of the historic Springfield Armory.

In terms of their products, they gain a general “meh” from me. A friend had a Range Officer 1911 that was a dog. My brother has a Garrison 1911 that is a pretty decent pistol, but nothing special.

I can’t speak to the .45ACP variants, but the 9mm XDm is a good, reliable pistol. But it’s not really a match for other modern striker-fired 9mm pistols in the same price range (the CZ P10C/F, Walther PDP, and HK VP9 pretty much own it in my experience) and the grip safety is still weird and unnecessary (and somehow uncomfortable compared to one on a 1911.)

Anyway- those are my observations. YMMV.

I found magazine springs on XDM in .45 not living for long. After 3,000 to 5,000 rounds they wear against the inside of the magazine enough to have literally flat spots. When that happens, rounds start to nosedive. Fortunately, the springs are available for now, but I think it's a problem. As soon as this gun gets out of factory support it turns into a safe queen. Great guns otherwise.

I, just purchased a Springfield Armory XD(M) Elite 4.5" 10mm auto a couple weeks ago. I order a couple magazines and they don't work in the the pistol.

I have two XD .45s and three 9mms. Never a problem with any of them. They all seem to be at least as accurate as I am and I've been a competitive shooter for 65 years. I sold my Glocks - nothing really wrong with them, but I like the way XDs fit better.
